Softphone Software Review vol. 14 — Ringotel

 

Ring, ring! — sang Abba in old good time when nobody knew softphone word; softphone software was not yet born; there were no leaders and second line; so there was nothing to compare and review.

Fortunately progress does not stand still. Firstly the world got acquainted with Cisco, then Avaya, then Mitel and Linphone, and the large wave fountained. Grandstream and Counterpath aka Bria, PhonerLite and Zoiper, Acrobits, Blink, MicroSIP — most of these products we have already reviewed (see the links in the bottom) and compared vs Softphone.Pro.

Today we welcome Ringotel from Ireland. For whom will it ring bell? — asks Mr. Hemmingway from even older good time. Nice Irish-Swedish-Cuban cocktail we have today, don't you think? What will be a cherry on the top, we wonder?

The final decision is always up to you, we just summarize. Ringotel is balanced but from our point of view it is mostly designed for big corporate consumers and might require admin's involvement. In contrast, Softphone.Pro's setting are very clear and allow immediate start. In light of comparable price it looks like a good solution for small and mid-size business too.
